LOWERING COSTS

Working families are being squeezed by rising prices on everything from groceries to rent to utilities. Leila will make lowering everyday costs her top priority in Sacramento, cracking down on price gouging, bringing down housing and healthcare costs, and making sure families can afford to live in the communities they love or help build.

HEALTHCARE

No one should face bankruptcy for getting sick. Leila will lower costs by expanding preventive care, increasing price transparency, and holding insurers and drug companies accountable. She'll fight  to cap out-of-pocket costs so families stay covered without fear of financial ruin. And she'll fight back against federal cuts to healthcare and education.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING

As an urban planner, Leila has worked to cut the red tape that slows housing construction and drives up costs. In the Assembly, she'll push to increase the supply of affordable housing and make both renting and homeownership more attainable for working families.

TAKING ON SPECIAL INTERESTS

Leila believes big corporations and lobbyists have too much power. She will stand up to lobbyists and greedy corporations jacking up your costs.

PROTECTING ABORTION RIGHTS

Leila is endorsed by Planned Parenthood Action Fund of the Pacific Southwest because she will always protect women's reproductive freedom.

Data Centers

Data centers have a major impact on local electricity and water costs and on the environment. Leila will hold them accountable by blocking new data centers that don't sign community benefit agreements to offset those costs and include local hiring requirements, and by limiting them to existing industrial areas, away from schools and homes.

STANDING UP TO FEDERAL OVERREACH

Leila will fight back against ICE and protect our communities from harmful federal actions. She will work with her colleagues in the Legislature to hold the federal government accountable and protect the rights of all Californians against the Trump administration.
