As a labor representative, Leila has spent years standing shoulder to shoulder with workers.Since 2005, she has worked with the City of Indio, and spent her career breaking down barriers for others through a life of public service.In the State Assembly, Leila will fight for working families in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties by taking on corporate greed, advocating for affordable housing, pushing for good-paying jobs, and working to expand access to education and quality healthcare.

She previously served as the Chapter President of SEIU 721 at the City of Indio, where she led contract negotiations three times, never backing down from having hard conversations and standing up to powerful interests when the stakes were high.Born and raised in Iran, Leila waited 19 long years to come to the United States legally. When she finally arrived in 2002, she didn’t have money or connections — just determination and the dream of a fair shot. There were times she worked three jobs just to get by, while attending college at night to learn English. Despite these challenges, Leila was able to turn her hardship into strength — and has spent her career breaking down barriers for others through a life of public service.Since 2005, she has worked with the City of Indio, starting as a Planning Technician and rising to become a Public Arts Program Analyst. She has helped shape strategic plans, manage city budgets, and bring more voices into the civic process. Her focus has always been on building trust, creating space for community input, and making government more transparent and responsive.In 2024, Leila ran on a slate for a District Delegate seat in California Assembly District 47 and won. Since March 2025, she has proudly served as a Delegate for the district, continuing her advocacy for working families and standing up for fairness, equality, opportunity, and the people of her community.Leila is running for State Assembly because she knows what it feels like to struggle. She’s lived the reality that so many families across Riverside and San Bernardino Counties are facing today: rising costs, housing insecurity, limited access to healthcare and education, and the growing gap between the rich and everyone else.In the State Assembly, Leila will fight for working families like hers by taking on corporate greed, advocating for affordable housing, pushing for good-paying jobs, and working to expand access to education and quality healthcare. Because everyone, no matter where they come from or what they’ve been through, deserves a fair shot at the American dream.
